Forms

Any time a product collects information, you’ll see a form containing fields for users to input data. Like lists, they come in many shapes and sizes, but there are good guidelines to follow so that the writing works well no matter what shape the form takes.

Group Fields Logically

When we enter addresses, there’s an order for the fields that we’re all accustomed to. For example, in Europe the usual pattern is:

  • Apartment/House number
  • Street address
  • City
  • State
  • Post code

These items would logically be grouped into one section, in this customary order, to allow users to speed through data entry.
