Checkbox

Rules

  1. Checkboxes primarily present lists of choices from which users can select any number of items.
  2. Checkboxes typically display a text label. The text label must be interactive so users can select or unselect an option even if they don't click right on the box.
  3. It’s good practice to organise checklists vertically instead of horizontally.
  4. A checkbox can also be used as a stand-alone item for users to turn an option on and off (e.g. to accept Terms & Conditions and the Privacy Policy)

Content Guidelines

  • Use sentence style capitalisation.
  • Try and keep the options short.
  • Keep the options consistent, for example, all nouns or all verbs, never a mix
  • Write labels in positive form (e.g. I accept the Terms and Conditions)
